General IT Induction In-Person
Within your role at the University of Northampton you will be using several key general IT systems, programs and applications required to perform your job easily and efficiently.
This training session provides key information and top tips on how to access and use all these systems effectively, as well as where to go to access and complete any ongoing training.
General IT systems covered during the session include:
- Communication tools such as Jabber and email
- Core IT systems including web browsers, Windows 10 and 11, Office 365, printing, IT tickets, U4BW, room bookings, the staff intranet and UON Internet sites
- Staff Development including the SD NILE site, LinkedIn Learning, mandatory E-Learning and the ability to create accessible documents.
Aims:
- Develop awareness of key general IT systems used within your role at the UON
- Learn tips and follow best practice for using these systems effectively
- Identify any needs to complete further training and understand where to go and how to access such training
- Develop your IT skills and digital competencies for working proficiently at the UON.
Audience:
- All new staff joining the UON that use a computer within their role.
Resources:
- Please bring along your University issued laptop, or alternatively a team or other work laptop. Alternatively, you can borrow a staff laptop but must organise that yourself before the session
- Please access and bookmark the General IT Induction OneNote Notebook that will be used during the session.
